What is a(n) ASSET file?

The ASSET file extension is used by the Unity game engine for its Asset files. It stores game elements like 3D models, textures and audio files in a proprietary format optimized for quickly loading scenes in the game engine. These files are usually included in a Unity project folder and can only be accessed when the Unity software is installed on the machine.

The ASSET file is typically created when certain assets (such as models or textures) are imported into the project. Once created, these Asset files can be moved or shared between different project folders as needed. It’s also possible to edit Assets directly in the Unity editor, although this isn’t recommended unless one has a full understanding of how Unity works.

How to open ASSET file?
