What is a(n) TRP file?

TRP (HD Video Transport Stream) is a file format designed for the storage and playback of high definition video (HDV) files which have been encoded with either MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 encoding. HDV video is encoded at a very high bit rate allowing for great detail from each frame, as well as support for different frame sizes such as full 1920x1080 resolution. TRP files are commonly used to store and transport pre-recorded HDV content or broadcasted programs.

TRP files can be supported directly by some media players, but are more often opened using special editing programs such as Apple Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer. Such programs allow users to make edits to their footage, add effects, and save their work as TRP files or other digital video file formats.

How to open TRP file?

If given user account does not have necessary permissions to open files with TRP extension, it is highly probable that no program that supports given files is installed on the users’ system. Below is a list of actions user should pursue in order to resolve most common problems.
