SXW (StarOffice Writer Document) is a file format used for text documents. It is developed originally by StarDivision and is currently maintained by Oracle Corporation. SXW format is primarily used in desktop publishing applications, such as StarOffice, Open Office and Symphony, for creating formatted text documents, containing tables, images, textframes and various graphical objects.

The SXW files contain formatted styles and fonts, page formatting information, tables, graphics, embedded objects and hyperlinks. They are also compact in size compared to other file formats, which makes them suitable for email attachment purposes. SXW files use the filename extension .sxw and support the Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
