What is a(n) RU file?
RU (Java Russian Font Properties Format) is a text-based file which stores information about supported Russian character encodings and language distributions. It is used by Java programs for localizing text in Russian, specifying the correct font, preventing improper font substitution, and other language-specific purposes. The RU file contains unicode characters, is UTF-8 encoded, and is saved in the plain text format with a .ru extension.
The RU file may contain details about the font size, style (normal or italic), type (serif or sans-serif), as well as properties specific to each language distribution such as letters order in words or writing direction.
