What is a(n) PIE file?

PIE (Pseudo Interactive Entertainment) is a controller scripting language created for the GlovePIE software. PIE scripts are plain text files typically saved with the file extension .PIE. These files contain instructions that allow users to programmatically control computer inputs such as keyboard and mouse events, joystick and gamepad button presses, and audio output from the PC.

Scripts written in the PIE language can be run from within GlovePIE or externally from other programs by using the GlovePIE library. It is possible to create custom scripts for a variety of purposes, from just managing input devices to creating complex games or computer simulations with visuals or sound. PIE scripting is also used to communicate with specialized hardware such as joysticks and brain-computer interfaces.
