PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is a file format used for storing digital audio. It is one of the oldest and most widely-used digital audio formats. PCM stores data as a stream of samples, which are the raw numbers that make up the audio waveform. Each sample is an 8-bit or 16-bit number, depending on the fidelity of the recording.
