What is a(n) NSF file?

NSF (Lotus Notes Database) is a file format used by IBM Lotus Notes and Domino software products. An NSF file contains various types of data including mail messages, contacts, calendar entries, documents, and tasks. It is the native file format for Lotus Notes and IBM Domino databases.

An NSF file is similar to an Offline Storage Table (OST) file used by Microsoft Exchange and Outlook. The main difference is that NSF data files are encrypted while OST files are not. This makes NSF files secure from outside access. An NSF file can be opened using the IBM Lotus Notes software or converted to another file format using third-party software.
