What is a(n) MHT file?

MHT (MHTML Web Archive)is a web page archive format that is used to store entire websites. The MHT files combine the HTML and external resources such as images, Flash animations, audio and video into a single file. This reduces the cost associated with downloading multiple files by combining them into a single MHT file.

MHT files can be created and opened with most web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. They are usually saved with a .mht extension and are used for sharing static and dynamic web pages online without losing any of their original content.
