What is a(n) DC file?

The DC (DesignCAD Design Format) format is an CAD/CAM design file format used to store vector based 2D designs. Such designs are created with the DesignCAD software from IMSI/Design LLC. While 3D designs can also be created with the DesignCAD software, they are saved in a separate DC3 (DesignCAD 3D File) format.

DC files usually contain a variety of polylines along with textual information like dimensions, object properties, styles and pen widths. Furthermore, these files can be exported to other CAD programs and printed. DC files can also contain embedded images which are automatically included in the output.
