A raster graphic file with the extension .BMP contains data about uncompressed image, allowing for different numbers of bits per pixel, thanks to which it is possible to use different color depths or even grayscale. The file stores data about the size and dimensions of the file, bitmap identifier and data allowing to assemble graphics in a rectangular pixel grid, such as the starting point of bitmap data, color options and bitmap pixels.
