What is a(n) BIP file?
The BIP (Character Studio Biped Format) file type is used by 3D Studio MAX software to contain information about the animated behaviours of biped models. This file format is based off of 3DS Max's own default file structure and contains hierarchal data regarding animation - including IK, footstep and motion data. BIP files are only compatible with 3DS MAX.
BIP files are typically used for 3D gaming, video capture, web design, or other similar animations when used in bundles with other 3DS files. It is not recommended to open these files with any other editor or program outside of 3DS MAX as compatibility may be lost.
